WELCOME TO THE EUROPEAN REFERENCE CENTRE FOR ANIMAL WELFARE FOR POULTRY AND OTHER SMALL FARMED ANIMALS

EURCAW-Poultry-SFA has been created in February 2020, in the context of the regulation 2017/625 about official controls (art. 95) to support the European Commission and member states in the applications of legislation regarding poultry and other small farmed animals' welfare.

A short presentation video of the Centre is available online.

The consortium between ANSES (France), IRTA (Spain), ANIVET (Denmark), and IZSLER (Italy) was designated as the European Union Reference Centre for Animal Welfare for Poultry and other small farmed animals (EURCAW-Poultry-SFA, COMMISSION IMPLEMENTING DECISION (EU) 2019/1685 of 4 October 2019).

The main objective of the Centre is to support the European Commission and the Member States in the implementation of welfare legislation for poultry and other small-farmed animals in farms, during transportation and slaughtering.

The centre works for the European Commission, Member State Competent Authorities (CAs), and their Supporting Bodies (SBs), providing: science, training, and communication.

EURCAW-Poultry-SFA will contribute to the dissemination of best practices, as well as carrying out scientific studies, and disseminating research and information on technical innovations.
